[...] The free advertising ads are the large ones across the main results page and the paid for ads are the small ones to the right hand side. If you think about it from your own experience as a searching customer, you probably, most of the time go for the large ads first. Research has indeed been previously carried out regarding this very idea and the results show that the natural or organic ads receive far greater results than that of the paid ads. For further information regarding this please click here. [...]

Just a follow up on the previous post, I also believe if your website has been search optimized to be liked by search engines, it pays off in your paid search campaigns as well with a better Quality Score and a lower Cost Per Click.

Lastly, I am a paid search professional and in my experience, when I talk to people about what I do, more than half of them don't even know what the sponsored search links are and are scared to click on them because they fear them to be spam - which is why they lean more towards the natural listings. Unfortunately, majority of the population does not even know about the existence of CPC Advertising and hence don't know the relevance of it and the Sponsored Search ads.

Hi,

I agree with you 100% that Natural Listings are more lucrative than Paid Search and yes, Paid Search does seem to be an immediate call for traffic and to get visitors. However, I think Paid Search and Natural Listings go hand in hand. Natural Listings are the best but in the long run can take a while plus any significant changes to the website can also make you loose your ranks. Paid Search on the other hand gives you full control over your visibility online, where you land the users, and how you analyze the conversion to make your campaigns and landing pages better. At the end of the day, it all depends on your online budget.

The third point that was mentioned in the "To Sum Up" was very much true in our case. I am wondering if there are any reports with eye-hit maps for different industries grouped into one place?

Great report. Thanks for the valuable info.

Over the years I've worked on literally hundreds of paid and organic search campaigns and I can tell you that it isn't always true that organic search provides more traffic or converts better than paid search traffic. It really depends on the query, ad creative and nature of your business. Organic is a cheaper way to go, though not free if you consider the cost of making changes to the site, hiring consultants, etc. I think you need to do both organic and paid in order to be optimally effective, and you need to do both well.
